Our Programs

All Breed Obedience Training Club

is a coalition of positive dog trainers and dog care professionals dedicated to fostering healthy relationships between dogs and their people.

Every Wednesday evening, dozens of caring and concerned dog owners – just like you – come to the top of Flagpole Hill and have a wonderful time training their dogs.  Yes, it’s hard work for a few hours a week, but the rewards – for you and your dog – are boundless.

All our instructors are volunteers with several years of experience.  They instruct your classes because they want to encourage dog obedience and your love and caring for your dog.

During the Eight Week Beginner program you learn the basics and then you have the opportunity to join our Club for year-round advanced training.

Beginner Classes

-Eight Weeks of Classes – $125
-Eight Weeks of Classes for adopted/rescued dogs – $75

The Eight Week Beginner program is designed so you learn two or more new exercises each class period.  Then it is up to you to work with your dog several times each week.  The more often you work with your dog, the faster your dog learns.  You will learn how to train your dog to “heal on leash”, “sit”, “stay”, “down”, “come” and “stand”.  Your dog will also learn how to pay attention to you instead of all the other dogs and people, as well as become more sociable.

Everyone has an opportunity to make up missed classes.   At the end of the Eight Week program, you will have the opportunity to become a member of ABOTC and move to Intermediate and Advanced training.

ABOTC Annual Membership/Advanced Training

-Annual Membership – $125

Membership in ABOTC includes weekly training and interaction for a full year in the Intermediate and Advanced Classes.  Weekly classes focus on strengthening basic commands, impulse control and more challenging skills with distance, duration and increased distractions. Our memberships are based on the calendar year and are prorated throughout the year to coincide with the month you join. Annual dues are $125 per individual or family, so if your family has more than one dog, you and your dogs will all be ABOTC members.

Canine Good Citizen

-Class and Evaluation – $40.00

AKC’s Canine Good Citizen (CGC) is a program that is open to all dogs–purebred and mixed breed–that focuses on teaching the basics of good manners and obedience, instilling the values of responsible ownership, and strengthening the bond between you and your dog at home and out in the community. All dogs who pass the 10-skill CGC test may receive a title or certificate from the American Kennel Club.

The CGC Program lays the foundation for other AKC activities such as obedience, agility, tracking and performance events as well as providing a solid foundation for Therapy Dog Certification.  This five week program is offered in the spring and in the fall.

Volunteer Engagement

Volunteers have been the heart of ABOTC since 1968.  There are many different opportunities to get involved, from taking class photos, helping plan parties and even becoming an instructor!  You can help out each week each month or once or twice a year.  Do you have a skill that you think would benefit the club?  Contact us to get connected!

Christmas Party

If your dog is becoming over-stimulated on walks, to the point of barking and lunging at the end of the leash, then your dog can be referred to as “leash-reactive.”

Summer Games

Barking is natural for dogs, but sometimes it can become excessive & turn into “problem barking”, This can lead to frustrated owners (and occasionally, neighbors). In order to correct the behavior, it is necessary for the owner to intervene.
